After starting out his career in advertising, Peter Russell-Clarke became the political cartoonist for The Melbourne Herald during the Gorton/Whitlam era. Gough Whitlam was sacked, and so was Peter Russell-Clarke. He then wrote and drew Ben Bowyang and other national and international comic strips, before writing and producing over 1,000 TV programs for the ABC and SBS, plus documentaries for Good Morning Australia and program segments for The Don Lane Show, The Paul Hogan Show, The Peter Couchman Show and others.
Peter was also creative director for advertising firms Monahan Dayman Adams and DMB&B (Masius), chairman and creative director for Market Australia Advertising, and owner of Dayman Direct, a direct mail response agency. Peter created the Doctors’ Television Network, which he sold to the Packer group, and he recently set up Spot TV, which screens TV programs in gyms, butcheries, chemists, vet clinics and hospitals. He has published fourteen books, and has recently finished writing a food encyclopaedia. Peter also paints and exhibits in Australia and many countries around the world.
